Low Cost Web Hosting

Does Size Really Matter with Low Cost Web Hosting?

There are many reputable low cost web hosting sites that offer you 1,500 GB of disk space a month for only $4.95 a month, but do you really need that much disk space?  In the World Wide Web, you don't necessarily need it, but you should.  Listen up, small business owners and personal users – this is information you need to know about size.

Why is More Better?

Even if you are hosting a small site, you should look for low cost web hosting companies with bigger disk space and bandwidth.  Why?

    You might see an explosion in traffic.  Always look for low cost web hosting companies that offer unlimited or bandwidth allotments over 10,000 GB a month.  Web trends change each month, and you never know if your site will be hot.  Even if your website is obscure, make sure to size up with bandwidth -- the last thing you want is your site to be suspended because of over-the-limit bandwidth.

    You need to expand your website later.  Choose size over price -- you might want to expand your site later.  If you do plan to expand your site, changing plans mid-year is a hassle, even if you order a month-to-month package.  Avoid the hassle by choosing a package with the maximum disk space and bandwidth you need in the long run.  Even if you don't know how big your website will be in 12 months, choose a size you think your business will expand to.  Still confused?  Choose bandwidth over 10,000 GB and disk space over 1,000 GB.  Most reputable low cost web hosting sites exceed this amount.

    Bigger space usually includes bigger features.  Low cost web hosting plans usually come in packages.  The bigger the space, the more features it has, such as free professional website templates.  Sometimes it's best to size up if you want more features -plus, you never know when you might need to upgrade.  When you are online, it is always better to be safe than sorry.

    You cannot estimate how much space you will actually use.  Especially if you plan to modify your website using techniques from Social Media Marketing, or on a broader scope, Web 2.0, you cannot readily estimate how much space you will use.  Usually, if you do use a SMM or Web 2.0 format, it will take up more space than you expect.  Always make sure you have twice the amount of room than you think you need.  If you think your site will use up 5,000GB of disk space, look for a low cost web hosting site that offers 10,000GB.

Should You Increase Your Size?

No matter who you are, you should increase your size unless you are in the middle of a low cost web hosting plan.  In that case, wait until the low cost web hosting period expires, and then increase the size of your hosting package.  If your hosting site does not offer bigger packages, look elsewhere – most lost cost web hosting packages expand to your needs.  You'll be better off and more prepared for expansion and growth – something that your competitors aren't doing.
